Hemorrhoid Treatment

Effective relief with minimal downtime.

Living with hemorrhoids can be uncomfortable and frustrating. At SAWNY, we believe treatment should feel respectful, simple, and effective, so you can return to the things you love without unnecessary disruption. We’ve offered care in the Western New York region for over 45 years, and our in-office procedures combine skill, compassion, and convenience.

Why Hemorrhoids Happen

Hemorrhoids form when veins in and around the anus become swollen and irritated. They can occur for a number of reasons, including chronic constipation, obesity, pregnancy, straining during bowel movements, or even heavy lifting at work. The most common symptoms include pain, itching, bleeding during or after bowel movements, and the feeling of a lump near the anus. Over-the-counter treatments might ease mild symptoms temporarily, but when they don’t, you may want to consider a modern, minimally invasive option.

In-Office Treatment Options

We offer two fast, minimally invasive procedures—both performed in our office, without general anesthesia, and both rooted in safety and proven results:

  • Infrared Coagulation (IRC): A probe delivers a controlled burst of infrared light to the veins feeding the hemorrhoid, causing them to shrink and recede naturally.
  • Rubber-Band Ligation: A small elastic ring is placed at the base of the hemorrhoid; this cuts off the blood supply and causes the tissue to shrink and fall away within a few days.

Both treatments take only a few minutes, require no hospital stay, and offer a very short recovery period. Your surgeon will determine which option best fits your condition, lifestyle, and comfort level.
