Meet Dr. Benjamin Khechen, MD

Dr. Benjamin Khechen, MD, earned his medical degree from Upstate Medical University located in Syracuse, NY and completed his general surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center, located in Maywood, Illinois before joining Surgical Associates of WNY. A native of the Buffalo area, he is proud to return home and serve the community that helped shape him.

Dr. Khechen is a general surgeon with a clinical focus on abdominal wall and groin hernias, gallbladder disease, diverticulitis, and other conditions affecting the bowel. He also provides emergency surgical care for appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and other urgent abdominal conditions. His practice emphasizes minimally invasive surgery, with particular expertise in robot-assisted procedures and the laparoscopic management of emergency surgical conditions.

For Dr. Khechen, exceptional surgical care begins with listening. He takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns, explain the available options, and develop a treatment plan together. His aim is to ensure that every patient feels heard, informed, and supported throughout their surgical journey.

Beyond his surgical practice, Dr. Khechen values quality time with family and friends. He enjoys hiking and photographing the landscapes of America’s national parks, supporting the Buffalo Bills, and maintaining strong opinions about what makes the perfect chicken wing.
